CO-FOUNDER
If you are an out of the box thinker, want to work on an impactful project, are an experienced researcher/engineer in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, then you might be the perfect fit as Co-founder for a FTX Funded project on improving Humanity’s decision making by using large language models (AI) to improve Prediction Markets.

For more details about the role, why it’s impactful, how to tell if you’re a good fit and how to apply please read below.

Deadline: 21 August 2022 11:59PM Pacific
Location: Prague, Czech Republic but open to remote candidates

FTX-funded project: Prediction Markets & Large Language Models

Mission
The long term vision of this project is to improve our decision making as a humanity. We aim to do that by improving how prediction markets work by employing AI (a language model). If we succeed we will create a shared model of reality, an interactive knowledge base continuously updated with high quality data from human traders/forecasters. Another effect is obtaining a more truthful AI, which is an essential goal for longtermism and minimization of existential risks.
For more details see the Research agenda

Founder - Peter Hroššo
Former Apple Machine Learning engineer with both research and entrepreneurial background. I have a track record of significant improvements in the industry, pushing projects from zero to one (MVP for EpiFor; Recommendation engine for a blockchain-based blogging platform), and designing and implementing novel approaches (neural graph representation before the invention of NSL). I'm also a long standing member of Czech EA/LW, and am closely following AI Alignment research.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The core of the idea is finished and has been externally reviewed. But the devil is always in the details, so you should be able to debug the deep learning- and prediction markets-related ideas on the conceptual level, come up with creative practical solutions to problems we will necessarily encounter, design and implement experiments to test the ideas and while doing all that have fun :). You should enjoy whiteboard sessions as well as the work with data and coding. It’s a plus if you have experience with founding and working at startups, building products/services, and raising money. It would be a big plus if you also had experience with forecasting.

BENEFITS TO YOU
  • Have a big impact. By improving humanity’s decision making you can improve the lives of the present and future generations and lessen the likelihood of existential events.
  • Meaning. So many jobs feel meaningless. Like you’re just a cog in a much larger machine but as co-founder, you get to work on what you think is most important every day and build an organization from the ground up.
  • Creativity. Prediction markets are great in theory, yet in practice they are less popular than they could be. You will have plenty of room for finding creative ways to make them more useful and fun.

YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
  • Over 5 years experience with Machine Learning/Deep Learning
  • Excellent at improving/adapting state of the art algorithms
  • Creative solutions oriented problem solver
  • Motivated by career impact and common good
  • Strong familiarity with Effective Altruism
